2017 - TEDxWhitsundayAnglicanSchoolMackay
Organised by Whitsunday Anglican School, Mackay hosted the first TEDX event, an independently organized event licensed by the global phenomenon TED, with a line-up of renowned guest speakers sharing innovative ideas and facilitating discussion with local senior school students and community members.

2017 - Cuberider STEM Program
This year Whitsunday Anglican School was one of two schools invited to participate in the Cuberider STEM program which was launched in Mackay in July 2017. Four Year 9 students formed a team to participate in the Telstra-sponsored program which is also partnered by NASA. Gabriella Andrews, Nashmia Akbar, Sam Chandler and Samuel Lenton worked for a full day to plan the first stage of a solution to a problem faced by astronauts at the International Space Station.
2017 - Virtual Debating
Our Year 10 students were the runners up in the National Virtual Debating Competition narrowly defeated by Canberra Girls Grammar. Students from Years 5 - 10 enjoyed this new virtual opportunity.

2018 - Leading the change to the new Queensland Certificate of Education (QCE) system
Whitsunday Anglican School's Year 10 students will make an early transition to the new QCE system by commencing Year 11 in Term 4 this year.

2018 - New STEM Subject
The 2018 school year has seen the commencement of the School's new Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics (STEM) subject.
This innovative subject allows students from Year 5 to 8 to learn to solve real world problems using technology, innovation and creativity.

2018 - Whitsunday Anglican School teacher named 2018 Rising Star
Head of Service and Global Learning Mr Matt Hodge was named one of The Educator's Rising Stars for 2018.
